Time for Joe-Pa to Go

At this year's Rose bowl Joe Patterno did not meet meet with coach Pete Carrol at midfield for the traditional pre-game coaches talk, disrespecting Pete Carrol.  Earlier in the week Paterno did not do the the pre-game interview with announcers Brent Musburger and  Kerk Herbstreit, which is in the rose bowl contract.  Penn State university will be fined 10 grand as punishment.  When asked about it Paterno said he didn't care.  Well I do care.  That money could have gone towards a scholarship for a student who can't afford tuition.  I could've gone towards improving academic facilities, research or it could've been given as a raise to a hard working faculty member.  But that money is back back back... gone, all for an old man's laziness.

Paterno just got a 3 year extension, he's 83 right now and I can't imagine how much crabbier he will be in 3 years.  The extension was a bad move.  Patterno had nothing to do with Penn State's success this season.  He sat up in the press box, he wasn't in contact with the players to motivate them.  He doesn't call plays.  The NCAA should stop giving him credit for the wins and divide them up into fractions of wins for the assistant coaches.  Penn State should force Paterno to resign right now because their team will be just as good.  Paterno can no longer use that he is a confused old man as an alibi for every person he offends and the money he costs the school.

You can't cut him some slack? And you are calling him lazy? He is 83 years old, coaching on a bad hip, and doing a good job. I can see where that money may have been used in a better way, but we should be thanking this man for everything he has done for college football. He is having physical troubles, and still finds time to do what he loves. He is not lazy at all, and he has been great for this sport.
